I have been in and out of scenarios where I needed a cooler to keep some of my edible items cool for a long period of time. This could be for packing a bag for lunch, bringing beverages and meats home from the market or it could be something more complicated such as planning for a long camping trip in the great outdoors. The one common theme about coolers is that they keep your items cool until they’re ready for consumption.
Yeti coolers can have a variety of shapes, sizes, and characteristics that make them stand out from other coolers. But, the big question is, Is it worth pursuing a Yeti cooler?
Yeti coolers can be very pricey, sometimes hundreds of dollars more compared to their competitor brands. There are numerous Yeti coolers on the market, each with its own different characteristics.
Why are Yeti coolers so expensive? Trust me when I say it’s for good reason.
Why Are Yeti Coolers So Expensive? The Answer Will Surprise You!
Yeti Cooler Overview
Yeti is one the most well-known superior cooler brands in the market. It was founded in Austin, Texas year in the year 2006 and since then, it has taken the cooler industry by storm.
One of their largest consumers is outdoor enthusiasts who are looking for a cooler that is durable to handle the raging outdoor elements and also need a cooler that can keep ice solid for long periods of time.
These coolers come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, both in hard-sided and soft-sided options. Additionally, they’ve included accessories such as ice buckets, drink wear, and various gears upon purchase which is very thoughtful by the way.
Are Yeti Coolers Worth The Price?
The initial shock of many people when it comes it to Yeti prices is understandable especially since the average price of a Yeti cooler ranger from $200 to $500.
But i’m confident in saying that your every dollar spent in purchasing a Yeti cooler is worth its price! It’s much better getting a Yeti over its cheap counterparts. But you don’t have to take my word for it.
Read on, and you’ll see for yourself why Yetis are above and beyond their competitions.
Why Buy A Yeti?
So why buy a Yeti cooler when you can just settle for the cheaper brand? This is my analogy: On a gravel and level terrain, an Isuzu Dmax and a Honda Civic are both capable of taking you from point A to point B.
However, the Dmax is a little pricey compared to the Civic, which has good quality and is a capable vehicle. The reason for the difference is because Isuzu designed the Dmax for one particular purpose: handling rugged terrain with ease, even in full cargo.
In the same way, Yeti coolers are manufactured for extreme terrain, over the top durability and also features thermal insulation far superior from its competition.
Don’t perceive me as a hater; i’m in no way maligning other cooler brands. There are a lot of other brands that are efficient and capable in their own right.
If you need a decent everyday cooler that you can use for a one-day or two-day trip, I advise you to purchase affordable brands like Igloo or Coleman.
On the other hand, if you regularly go on camping trips who needs a cooler to withstand the tough terrain and elements, then look no further than the Yeti.
My favorite line from the Yeti brand is their Tundra line. Here’s why:
Features of The Yeti Tundra
Exceptional Durability
Yeti’s Tundra line is made of durable rotomolded plastic. This method of forming plastic makes it tougher especially along the sides and corners that are susceptible to wear and tear, while still keeping it lightweight.
In fact, the Tundra line is “bear-certified” meaning, your cooler will survive a bear attack without spilling its contents. Cool, right?
Forest fires, heavy loads, and high impacts are no match for the Yeti Tundra 45 cooler.
Don’t believe me? Does it sound too good to be true? The video below shows the Yeti that has been tested to survive extreme damages. See for yourself!
After watching the clip, I’m definitely sure you’re going to the nearest outdoor store to purchase one.
Outstanding Thermal Insulation
The Yeti Tundra 35 cooler has exceptional thermal insulation brought by making the hardened layer 2 inches thick and putting a commercial grade polyurethane foam in both the walls and lid of the cooler.
This means that the Yeti Tundra is light years away from their competition when it comes to thermal insulation. In fact, Yeti Tundras do better in the most important feature that a cooler must have — keeping things cold.
Ask yourself why cheaper cooler products only keep your meats, fish, beverages, or other food items cold for a maximum of 2-3 days only, sometimes even less.
This means when your going on a camping trip or as simple as a picnic and you brought ice, the Yeti Tundra will make your food items cold for 5 days if not an entire week! Imagine that?
So, if you really think about it, the Yeti cooler seems to be cheaper. Why? In the way that you won’t have to purchase a lot of ice just to keep your food items cold.
